Our Club History

🌟 Binapani Club, Cuttack has a rich history of devotion, culture, and community service. Established decades ago, our club has been at the forefront of organizing grand Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Lakhmi Puja, Saraswati Puja and Ganesh Puja and other traditional festivals, bringing joy to families across the city. 🙏 Our founders believed in unity, faith, and preserving cultural heritage, which continues to guide our activities today.

Foundation of Buxi Bazar Durga Puja Samity

In 1888, Bengalis of Cuttack came together at Badhei Sahi to establish the first Sarbojanin Durga Puja of Cuttack, under the name Buxi Bazar Durga Puja Samity.

Birth of Binapani Club

Around 1920, Binapani Club was founded with a stage and spacious auditorium, becoming a hub of dramas, cultural shows, sports and social gatherings.

Beginning of Bengali New Year Celebrations

In 1934, under the banner of Nabavarsha Samity, the Bengali New Year was celebrated at the Samity auditorium, later at Barabati Stadium and now at Kala Bikash Kendra.

Mahamaya Bengali Medium School

Initially run inside the Samity premises, Mahamaya School shifted to its own building at Kesharpur, Cuttack in 1968.

Renovation of Mandap

The permanent Puja Mandap, built through community support, was renovated in 1978 at a cost of about ₹35,000, strengthening the foundation of festivities.

Today & Beyond

In 2025, Buxi Bazar Durga Puja Samity & Binapani Club continue to celebrate Durga Puja, Laxmi Puja, Kali Puja, Saraswati Puja, Netaji Jayanti, Independence Day, and many cultural & social programmes.
